Lenders need to know that you are good at making payments on time and if you have no payments to make because you never actually use your credit card, then lenders won’t have a clue. So give them one, and reap the benefits of the good reputation you’re building (and a good rate on a mortgage or other loan.

I know that asking your credit card company to raise your credit limit flies in the face of what many self-respecting credit users would do right?
Maybe you worry that if you ask for this, they'll think you’re about to go on a massively irresponsible shopping spree and max out your card, right?
But the thing is, raising your credit limit while keeping your spending levels the same can raise your credit score. This is because part of your credit score is base on the percentage of available credit that you use.
